This is a very rare piece from Boucheron produced in the 1970’s. Besides the interesting patented closure systems, this watch uses precious wood. Used as early as the 1930’s by Cartier, van Cleef Arpels and Boucheron, wood jewelry made a comeback in the 1970’s. The counterculture promoted naturalism and sustainability, and the counterculture is where fashion is dictated. Approaching exotic wood as a luxury material instead of a common raw material. Combining it with gold precious stones etcetera.
This is a creation from one of my personal favorite brands, Boucheron. A horizontal rectangular wristwatch where rose wood takes center stage, framed in a gold bezel. The crown is cleverly tucked away on the backside. There is also a lot to enjoy here for the hallmark lovers.
