This is the original LIP Mach 2000 designed by Roger Tallon in the early 1970’s. Among other important designs, he is known as the designer of the high speed TGV train. This particular model runs on a handwound Valjoux 7734 movement, which was only produced for a very short time period in the 1970’s. This currently seems to be the only all original example in the market with the characteristic coloured buttons and crown. Another version with black buttons is more commonly seen. The condition of this piece is amazing. There is no imperfections to be found apart from some discoloration of the colored buttons, which we always see on this model. In my opinion it adds some charm and age to the watch and clearly distinguishes it from the modern quartz reissues. The anodized aluminum case is untouched and it comes with its original hangtag with the impressive LIP design logo.
This design is permanently housed at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
